Story Behind the Photo: Apex River Bench

By: Robin D. Collin

This image is a part of the collection titled “Relaxation”. This series reflects scenes I’ve captured on what I call my “spiritually restorative” walks that are powerful reminders for me to rest, unwind, and appreciate restoration in stillness. This bench was taken in the same park as the Apex Pensive Bench. This day I purposefully went out for a late afternoon-twilight stroll to have fun capturing the different hues that would be present as a result of the setting sun. I was pleasantly surprised to find the environment coated in these deep, warm blues, greens, browns, purples and black. Definitely not what I expected but I welcomed it all the same. This scene caught my eye through a set of trees and I appreciate how it exuded both both a chill and regal vibe. I must say the only edit to this image is adjusting exposure because I purposefully underexposed it to see what colors would come through. Many of my images have minimal to no editing done to them mainly out of preference of enjoying the imperfections of the original shot. However I do look forward to and am working on improving my editing skills. When I look at this image I’m reminded that my artistic eye is quite astute and that I’m pretty skilled at finding uniqueness in the normalcy. I really enjoy the photos I take.
