Thursday Art Thoughts💭

——-

This Thursday, I share a win and continue to share the purpose behind this dream of mine, Lib Lune Creations.

🎉My April exhibition at Duke Hospital was a success with so much positive feedback from both patients and healthcare staff. Healthcare providers also resonated with the story behind my art—a burned out doctor who found healing in nature photography and wants to share that transformation with patients and fellow healthcare providers.

❤️🙌🏾Thanks to the overwhelming feedback from this community, I have been asked to do a larger exhibit within the next year.

✅💪🏾This is the type of impact that I want my artwork to have. I know that healthcare spaces are scary, stressful, and sometimes really drab. I know that when you see beauty in the design or artwork of healthcare spaces it improves your mood and makes you feel human.

I felt and valued the impact of artwork had on me as a resident working in the hospital. Some days the art uplifted me because I felt connected to my humanity and other days I would look at art (or absence of it) that reminded me why I wanted to go home ASAP 😅.

I want my artwork to be a fixture in bringing joy, comfort, and mental relief to patients and healthcare providers and staff across the nation. And especially when my BIPOC folks see who I am or read my story, I hope it makes them feel less isolated in these healthcare institutions.

This is why I would appreciate your help in the donation campaign (previous post) to help me continue expanding my work.

I also encourage you to take a look at my artwork and see what pieces resonate with your idea of stress-relief and comfort. I create my art so that we can all feel loved, seen, and at ease when we are struggling and when we are triumphant.
