Trees and Foliage
I have a confession: trees and foliage and me got a relationship going on. Lol I have been in love with the ever-changing colors of foliage and the diversity of structure and function of trees since I was a child. In college, I took Plant Biology to try to gain some more technical knowledge about how they worked and artistically incorporated trees in my life by centering them in chilling and abstract printed film images for my final project for my photography course. That final project changed everything for me as far as how I approached taking photos and how I even viewed my artistic vision. All I can say is Thank you, my friends.
Tip: Love on the foliage and trees around you, they are always in flux with the environment even when you think they are dormant during the cold months. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by the ways in which you try to capture their shape and essence.
On this day, I finally shook off the cobwebs and resumed using my DSLR after having acclimated to my Iphone. I was just thrilled by how full and proud the trees and bushes looked. I could also start to see a touch of Fall peaking through.
I naturally gravitate toward taking images that are windows or pockets of a larger scene. This image clearly displays that penchant. Here, I was touched by the light of the setting sun dancing on the foliage in front of me in contrast to the deep green hue of the shadowed foliage just across the pond.
On my afternoon walk down this rustic NC trail, couldn’t help but swoon over the yellow and browns of the fall trees. This branch hung there delicately inviting me to just enjoy.
In South Jersey, the Fall is quite sickening tbh. I was out looking for stunning foliage and golly, I found it! This tree sincerely mesmerized me. I crawled right into its center and laid on a trunk for this shot.
A lazy fall walk on the American Tobacco Trail. I appreciate the geometry found in forests.
This peeling tree caught my eye as I was on a stroll in one of my favorite parks. Like usual, I positioned myself within the branches and trunks to get up close.
It was a beautiful spring day on my birthday. I decided to celebrate myself after finally seeing my dentist by resting on a bench in a very familiar park near my hometown. When I looked up to the sky, I was struck by the richness of the greens, browns, and blues.
While taking a de-stressing walk on a trail in NC, I was struck by how lush and tall the trees looked. It was like they were enveloping me with protection
It can get difficult capturing easily pleasing sights in the drab parts of winter but that only leads to stretching the imagination to find beauty where it may be overlooked. This was taken during a lovely trail walk with a dear friend.
A long, cool walk on the American Tobacco Trail.
Some days you just have to look up at the sky to not lose yourself in the stress. This photo was taken during a walk at a duck pond in Greenville, NC.
